Yes, I am biased… but I think digital marketing has the most potential to set your business up for success once we get past this moment in time.
President Donald Trump said Sunday (March 29, 2020) he would extend nationwide social distancing guidelines for another 30 days, an abrupt back-down from his push to reopen the country as coronavirus continues to spread.
The 15-day guidelines Trump announced two weeks ago were set to expire on Monday, and the President had suggested over the past week that he was looking to relax them, at least in some parts of the country. He even floated Easter, on April 12, as a potential date by which the country could return to normal. Source: CNN
I was asked to turn this article into a webinar… so here is the recording:
Meanwhile, small business owners around the world are struggling with the current state of the economy. Even with the recently passed $2 trillion stimulus package – the uncertainty of what the next few months hold is cause for much anxiety.
We have been overwhelmed with information on how to best prevent COVID-19 and keep our community safe… but there has been little in the news to help small local business service and thieve during the “lockdown” and age of “social distancing”.
If you are like most small business owners or leadership within an organization – you are asking yourself:
- How will coronavirus affect my business, short-term and long-term?
- How do I minimize the business fallout from the coronavirus?
I don’t want to downplay the struggle that we, as small business owners, are going through because of this horrible virus… but I think there are really only two options, right now:
1.) The economy is bad and getting worst, so I need to stop business growth activities and just call quarter one a total loss.
2.) The economy is bad and getting worst, but will recover and I need to be a position to take advantage when it does.
If you are more in the options #2 camp – keep reading…
Digital Marketing Strategies to Use During Coronavirus
Content marketing is a productive way for you to continue to be in touch with your customers and grow lead generation throughout the coronavirus pandemic. With the constantly changing digital landscape, reaching and engaging with your customers or potential customers that can outlast this current crisis, no matter what industry you serve – you will have the great content marketing strategies in place.
Many people believe that content marketing can be difficult to get into. This is only true if you don’t have the proper knowledge about the subject. Learning more about article marketing and practicing will help you. Keep reading in order to learn more.
Research your topics before writing about them. You are trying to sell to people with an interest in the product so if you don’t look like you know what you are talking about they will know. Do your research at other blogs and use the actual product and your writing will reflect that.
Stay on topic. Your content should always be relevant to whatever it is promoting. If you are writing about home improvement, there is no reason to throw in a story about your recent vacation to the Bahamas. Readers want the content to match the topic, so make sure you don’t stray too far.
Tell a personal story. Readers love learning more about the writer of an article, so if you can slip a personal story with relevancy into your article, do it! It makes your readers feel as if you are more trustworthy since you are open to sharing your own stories with them.
You should submit as many articles as you are capable of writing. When placing articles on blog groups, it is essential that you do so on a regular basis. To promote a specific keyword, post multiple articles based on it. With a competitive keyword, it’s necessary to submit 10 articles to networks of public blogs and 5 articles to directories. Next, it is necessary for you to post 50 times on private blog networks to obtain a decent ranking.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
If you had a dollar for every service available on the market that says it can take your site to the top of the rankings in just a few weeks, you wouldn’t even need to be in web business. You’d be wealthy already. Stay away from those services that offer SEO as a quick fix… and hire an SEO expert or if you have the time, you can learn how to do it yourself. It’s not hard to do, especially if you just follow these SEO tips to get you started and help you to stay on track.
Maintaining a healthy presence online means always keeping your website or forums up to date with current affairs. Even if your main selling point is not any sort of news angle, it is a good idea to show that you are constantly upgrading your site and put full attention into your business and customers.
Build a great series of appropriate backlinks on your site. Have your keyword phrases be in the titles of said links. Make sure that these network links are related to your content, otherwise, they could possibly work against you. Using backlinks is a great way to bring in traffic from various areas.
Use the right keywords. By researching the right keywords to use, you will make sure that search engines rank you for the subject you want to be ranked for. Do keyword research first to make sure you are using keywords that people actually search for; don’t go by your own guesses.
To help site crawlers better understand your site, you should use keywords as your anchor text for internal links. Non-descript links such as, “click here,” do not help your site as they offer no information to the search engines. This will also help your site to appear more cohesive to human visitors.
As you can see, SEO isn’t hard at all. It might all be Greek to you at this point, but given a little bit of time, the mystery will start to unravel and you will understand what is expected of you by the search engines if you want your site found among the similar sites in your category.

Would you like to reach a broad audience in a very direct way? You can do that with email marketing! But how can you use email marketing to its fullest potential? In this article, you’ll find some great tips that will make the emails you send out a huge success.
The easier it is to subscribe to your email newsletter, the more subscribers you will have. If you have a physical store, ask your customers for their email address when they make a purchase. If you sell on a website, ask them for their address when they are ready to check out.
Limit your marketing email messages to only one each week. Most of your customer base probably has to tend to many other email messages each day. If you are sending too many emails, people will get annoyed and block these messages or unsubscribe from your list.
Strategically plan when your emails will go out. People do not like getting emails at inconvenient times, especially if it’s something that they have to act on quickly. Be considerate by making your offers convenient and easy for people to take advantage of, and you will have more sales than you otherwise would.
To get the best results from your email marketing campaign, test your messages thoroughly before you send them. Do not just type up a quick message and blast it out to your subscriber list without checking it carefully first. Preview it in different email programs and on different platforms to make sure it will display properly for everyone.
Now that you’ve read this article, you know how to make email marketing work for you. Apply these tips, and you’re sure to see results. Feel free to experiment with what you’ve learned and developed new strategies of your own. A little emailing can go a very, very long way.
